The workspace-switching terminal
Every project gets a workspace — a saved split-pane layout with its own directory, startup commands and colour. One key switches the whole desk, and nothing you left behind stops running. Claude Code checks in from every desk — a badge while it works, a nudge when it needs you.
The tour — one window, six scenes
SCENE 01
⌘1 is the api. ⌘2 is the site. Each workspace keeps its own split layout, directory and running commands. Jump with ⌘1–⌘9, cycle with Ctrl+Tab — shells keep working in the workspaces you are not looking at. Workspaces file into collapsible groups, the sidebar unfolds to their panes — or tucks away entirely.
SCENE 02
⌘D splits right, ⇧⌘D splits down. Layouts are trees of rows and columns; drag any divider and the saved fractions rebalance. Four presets — Tiled, Main + Stack, Rows, Columns — rebuild the arrangement in one go, and new splits keep themselves even.
SCENE 03
⌘P opens the command palette. It matches commands and workspaces — and, if you let it, lines from every pane's scrollback. The 429 that scrolled past an hour ago, in another workspace, is three keystrokes away.
SCENE 04
Run claude anywhere — Spaced notices. The pane wears a live badge while it works, and a Claude panel at the sidebar's foot lists every session: pulsing while working, amber when one needs you, green when it finished while you were elsewhere. Click a line — or the notification — and you are in that pane. No configuration touched.
SCENE 05
⌘F zooms the focused pane to the full window. The layout underneath is untouched — press it again and the walls come back. Move focus between panes with ⌘⌥ and the arrows.
SCENE 06
Relaunch, and the room reassembles — layout, directories, and startup commands typed back in, if you opt in. Closing a pane with a live process asks first; so does quitting the app. A stray ⌘W never kills a job.
Everything lives in workspaces.json — hand-editable by design. Version it, template it, or redraw a layout in your editor; Spaced picks it up.
Closing a running pane asks first. Quitting says how many shells it takes with it. Multi-line pastes warn before they execute on arrival.
